Union that confirms power

Large event carried out by Sobratema gathers the main players of construction and sustainability chains

The Week of Integrated Technologies for Construction, Environment and Equipment, carried out between June 7 and 9 by the Brazilian Association of Technologies for Construction and Mining (Sobratema) and by its official vehicles of communication—Grandes Construções and M&T magazines—was a success. The event, that joined at the same time the exhibitions M&T Peças e Serviços, Construction Expo and BW Expo, in addition to the event of content Sobratema Summit, brought to the São Paulo Expo approximately 8,000 visitors that had contact with modern equipment, new construction methods and solutions turned to sustainability, rational use of water and treatment of effluents, and solid waste materials.

The success of the Week of Technologies is even better if the context in which it was carried out—of high politic and economic uncertainty—is considered. More than 120 exhibitors coming from Brazil and other 10 countries were concentrated along the ten thousand sq.mt. of the pavilion 4 of the Convention Center, in an evidence of trust in the power of the construction chain that—even in a period of crisis—starts to show its first signals of recovery.

“The industries of construction and infrastructure are being severely hit but –as usually occurs—Brazilian people will know how to overcome these difficulties and put the country again in the route of economic, politic and social development. This ordeal is serving for a deep reflection and a quick ripening of the Brazilian society. After this moment of stress, our country will never be the same again. It will be better! And above all, we will come out strengthened”, said Afonso Mamede, president of Sobratema.

Mamede also said that the Week of Integrated Technologies is an example of assertiveness of the actors of construction, mining and sustainability chains, which are refusing to get into the atmosphere of pessimism. “As long as the politicians do not offer solutions for the crisis, we—from business, technical and institutional areas—will continue to work hard, claiming for structural renewals and looking for intelligent means for our survival and development.”

In his speech that opened the event, Afonso Mamede thanked the trust that Messe München, the largest promoter of trade shows in the world is putting in the recovery of Brazilian economy. The company—headquartered in Germany—was associated to Sobratema to cooperate in promoting its trade shows M&T Expo – International Trade Show of Construction and Mining Equipment; Construction Expo – International Trade Show of Building and Infrastructure Works; and M&T Peças e Serviços – Trade Show and Congress of Construction and Mining Equipment Technology and Management from 2018 on. According to Mamede, this partnership represents an "opportunity of encouraging even more the development of bilateral business and the entrance of new technologies in the national market, to contribute for the sustainable development of the infrastructure and construction in the country ".

He also thanked the more than 130 sectorial entities that supported Sobratema in carrying out the Week of Integrated Technologies and the exhibitors that—taking part in the event—confirmed their commitment of “continue to produce and supply our market with quality, quantity and punctuality, generating jobs and moving our economy”.
